IS IT JUST ME, OR IS IT A COMMON THING?

The other day, it was around 3.30 AM, during my semester holidays. My parents had told me to consider following a normal routine atleast during the holidays, but, to no avail! I had had a long day, with no sleep during the day either. However, out of sheer habit, I just couldn’t pull myself to sleep at the sane hours. I just realized the coming day would be an early and an equally hectic one., so, I reluctantly pulled my face and mind out of the monitor, and the other things I was trying to complete and decided to get some shut-eye. Barely had my head touched the pillow, when I remembered an important point I had missed. Infuriated with myself for having forgotten that earlier, (in my defense, I knew something was amiss!) I kicked my blanket aside, only to begin working in front of the computer again!

I wasn’t just a single thing…a couple of months before the above said incident, on another tiring day, I was just drifting away into my much deserved sleep, when I realized the mistake I had made while debugging a certain program, due to which I wasn’t getting the desired outputs. I slept anyways, pushing aside the fact that I could forget such an important thing. Yeah, you guessed it right! I woke up the next morning, only to realize that I had indeed forgotten!!! (AARGH!!) Well, eventually, I did solve the program, but, had to go about it a longer, more conventional way (I somehow still feel that such sudden brain-waves are a lot more easier than the painful conventional means :P)

Two events I could remember…vividly. So, here I am, at 3.53 AM on another day; sleep evaded me today also…Yeah, I got this idea, and had to post it…and No, I’m not taking any more chances!

@akash
Thanks a lot!
I can see why you associate with this post specially...it was posted out at 3.06 AM!!!, a time considered insane to others, but probably sane to us :D
Again, thanks.

I too tend to forget about things at times...so the best thing is to give the activity a single word name, and then just remember the initials of that word....in that way I tend to keep remebring what I have in ma mind.

Infact this is how I write ma blog too...most of the time ;)

Nice one....cheers!

Well, there seems to be a misconception here. I normally don't forget things...it's only those things that strikes while I'm about to hit the sack that I has escaped from my memory, a few times. The main aim of this post, though was the frustration that I tend to remember those important things at insane hours.
However, thanks for your comments, and yeah, I shall implement that whenever I feel my memory is going to decieve me.

Good that you finally debugged that program.what was amiss??:)
This only substantiates the theory(or is it a fact??) that when you sleep you tend to think(your sub-conscious mind) about something that you want(bothering) the most..
cheers

of course it does...
sometimes its a sad tale too..like after im done with an exam, the most optimal solution flashes in my head that night :|
and when i do not give an answer in class,hesitating..i find that someone else has given the same answer and got applauded :|
aaaargggh!
but indeed, sleep does wonders to ur brain i suppose.

@ kaushik
first of all, why am I not able to view your blog? Enable the visitors thing in your settings.
Well, the program...I dont remember exactly, but, there was some flaw in the logic I suppose, which was giving a partly undesired output
Yeah, I have always felt so too, that we tend to think even in our sleep, but haven't bothered to share the thought with anyone, since I dont wish to prove I'm more lunatic than they already suppose I am! :P

Yeah, that happens too, loads of times...It was nearly 4.00 AM when I posted this entry, and no wonder, I couldn't think of many things!!!
Sleep does do wonders...but, what happens to the loads of work that remains pending when you decide to catch some shut-eye( which, BTW, lasts for quite long, specially if you're tired)
and the answering part...yeah, that happens too...but, being the introvert that I am, many times, I allow the others to answer, and sit back and watch!
Anyway, thanks for your comments (or should I say expert opinion;))

dreams usually very complicated in terms of everything, many great people have achieved wonders out of it ........like kekule,Now i can see one more person who will achieve something through dreams

@ ajay
Well, if the "one more person" you mention is me, I can possibly achieve something only out of day dreaming. However, we need to remember what is meant to be conveyed through the proverb "Do not build castles in the air"...so, I fall into a paradox (who wouldn't, right)....a paradox over the trivia about dreams, coz at this rate of my sleeplessness, all I can do is Day-dream!!! and clearly, or rather, unfortunately, day dreaming isn't considered a good thing at all! Still, do we ever bother to stop day dreaming ever??
Anyway, glad you see things in a different light, different from the prototypes. Also, hey, thanks a lot! :)

Yes we have something good here!! :D

@post
Can exactly understand your sentiments!!..i can say been there...but not done that ;) as i was not awake do debug a program :P

and please do have a look at the time i have written this comment ... :)

@ aditya
:) thanks. Glad something here makes sense ;)

trust me, it's a pain to get such brilliant ideas at that hour!!! Specially with programming.. Eventually, the initial ideas lead to better ideas, and before you know, you're wide awake implementing newer ideas.. :P

Ps: noticed the time the first thing.. Quite a sane thing to do with this post in question, right? ;)
and yeah, thanks for visiting my blog :)

Hmm...it seems that You are an Einstein when it comes to programming at night ;)
seriously you try those "midnight programming" contests..!!!!...u might win you know :)...

P.S.:Your reply to the comment was also at somewhat a sane time for the post..!!...lol

and i would be even more thankful to you if you could reciprocate by doing the same... ;)

@ Aditya
Einstein?? Yeah right!!! Just shows how long it takes for me to debug something ;) (in my defense, the time doesn't seem to help either, and the constant rubbing of the eyes to ward away sweet sleep adds in to the misery)

Ps: most of my blogging work is done at such sane timings only ;)

:)I get the signal.. sure shall peep into thou blog ;)
