what's with those vessels...and what's with all of their sound?

As kids, we were taught proverbs. We ranted them out, we had fill in the blanks with proverbs too. Perhaps, somewhere down the line, the meanings behind those few words seem to have lost their purpose. While I can go one for pages with examples, I'll stick to one of them that came up in a recent observation, and like many other observations, grew into a conversation!

There was a wedding invite I recieved recently, with the customary stuff. Along with it, right beside both the groom and the 's bride's names, the parenthesis read out their respective qualifications. No offense to any readers out there, but I find that a little funny, and a little more weird. A wedding, be it in any place, always has people close to either the groom or the bride - or even people close to their parents and/or siblings attending. Long story short, they are people who know about either one of them, and are either close enough or curious enough to learn about whom he/she has decided to spend a life together with.

This is precisely where the proverb I had in mind comes to picture... We were taught as kids.. "Empty vessels make more noise"... need I re-iterate that by vessels, the person who wrote the proverb didn't necessarily mean just proverbs?

Repeating that I intended no offense whatsoever to anybody, I hence rest my case.

Just Kidding!

Duly inspired by – a typical weekend, a typical-yet-hugely-entertaining episode of FRIENDS (The one where Phoebe runs)…. Who said the television has to be all bad?

Time and again, lots of people have always said – 'Don't let the kid in you get away'. Even the most serious of people, the angriest of people have, in the least, broken off into a smile over something "silly". There are thousands of videos shared on various portals – of babies "savoring" lemons for the first time ever, of infants laughing their head off over absolute nothing, of bloopers, of animals being funny, and the list goes on. Given a chance, I can recall multiple such instances wherein I laughed so hard that I cried (tears of joy, ofcourse) and not to anyone's surprise, a majority of them were over something "childish" or something "silly"

When was the last time you ran in the rain, trying oh-so much to stay dry, but to no avail, and then spoke about how fast the rain fell? When was the last time you jumped feet first into a pool, splashing water all around – instead of going down the steps? Those who take the steps, try the jump the next time you are at a pool, and splurge in the triumph!J The alternatives always sound boring..

Quoting a somewhat related line from the book "Daddy Long Legs" – 'It isn't the big troubles in life that require character. Anybody can rise to a crisis and face a crushing tragedy with courage. But, to meet the petty hazards of the day with a laugh – I really think that requires spirit!'

Celebrate every moment

He was driving down that road often driven. Oddly enough, the traffic seemed to 'flow'. It was a blessing in disguise, as he was almost in a daze; from all those things zooming in his head. He shook himself out of the reverie for the nth time that evening. The short drive seemed to go on forever that day.  As much as he dreaded driving while in such a daze, he equally dreaded going back to the empty house…the house; always empty, had felt eerie for the first time.

Meanwhile, the radio in the car blared on – oblivious to his muddled mind. He, in turn was oblivious to the RJ talking, to the songs playing, to everything else! Josh Groban drawled on from the stereo…'like the sound of silence calling….' … totally unaware of his distracted audience. Two shakes of time elapsed, and he had to shake himself out of the daze again. At that very moment, Josh Groban sang on… 'celebrate every moment' … And lo, and behold! It transformed him into a complete new trance, to a complete new level. Here, everything was clear, everything was visible, everything was transparent. Every tick in the clock now counted, unlike others which earlier, went unnoticed. He smiled to himself as he took the last turn towards his now beckoning home…
